Born of a sovereign Chamoru past; the lanchu endured despite colonization, evolved where needed, and continues to exist today.

This project shares lanchu stories which reveal aspects of personal experience, events, and connections with particular places.

These recollections centered on the lanchu teach us about culture, history, and language.

Different lessons can emerge from each. Still more knowledge can be learned from other people’s stories, and this project offers an encouraging start for learning more.
